02-12-2018 Hyakuri Air
Festival |
|
|
After an early start we arrived at Hyakuri AFB for the show. With the weather closing in we made a quick dash to do as many aircraft on the static while the sun lasted.
With it being a show near to Tokyo the amount of people on the base was not too bad, and the static was parked alongside the public area so no people in the way while taking pictures.
|
|
|
With the static covered in the sunshine it was time to wait for
the flying part of the show which started around midday with a
mass take off the different types of F-4 Phantom for a flypast.
And later in the program a QRA demo by the two special F-4
Phantoms.
As this was a local event the participation by other units was
low but luckily one of the new types of the Japanese Air Force a
P-1 maritime surveillance plane was present.. |
|
|
With the demo of the two special F-4 Phantoms the air show ended
and everybody started to leave the base and we did also. On the
way to Narita we visited Kashima for a preserved T-2 but found
it was no longer there.
At the end of the day we flew from Narita to Taipei with Vanilla
Air a low-cost carrier witch had a hand luggage policy off 7 KG
which they enforced strictly at the beginning of the in check.
This commanded in some serious luggage shifting between the
photo bag Suitcase and back before the final check-in.

Our arrival at Taipei was on Monday December 3th, very early.
Clearing immigration took some time, but eventually we ended up in our hotel
near the airport for a good night sleep after wat turned out to be a nice
but long day
