Australia 2008

15-09-2008 Amberly

Next stop was Amberly the only place where you still can see live F-111.

On Arrival at Amberley on Monday afternoon there were no activities at all. Asking why people told me that the most of the flying and specially the F-111 took place at the and of the week. In search of a good place for viewing ( I lost my Google printout) four F-111 took to the air. With the help of a C-17 and a Boeing BBJ a spot in the landing was found and the waiting started. The reword came in the form of a RF-111C and a four ship of F-111C’s. At the camper place at Willowbank two sadly looking Canberra’s where noted. During the evening night flying was heard and seen at the camper place in Willowbank this explained the lack of activity and did not promised to much for the next day.

The next morning just before departure from the campsite two F-111 want airborne and after that complete silence at the base. So we went to the landing to get some pictures from the returning F111's.

For the record Sewell street at the north gate is closed for al traffic. And the stand of 38 sqn in being rebuild to house the new Airbus tankers
