Located on the main
operational base of the Swiss F/A-18, the Swiss Air Force Museum "Clin
d'Ailes" presents the military aeronautics of the second part of the 20th
century.
The aviation museum "Clin
d'Ailes" was founded by a group of former 5ème escadrille members and
‘Espace Passion’.
A process started in the early nineties and resulting in the opening in
April 2003.
From the Vampire to the Mirage III, passing by the Venom and the Hunter all
the jets of the period are on display.
Showing the rapid progress made in the field of aerodynamics, materials used
and weapon systems.
In the central hall the six jets exhibited, pictures can be made from a
gallery giving more opportunities to the photographer.
The museum has a collection of memorabilia and models. A special section is
dedicated the astronaut Claude Nicollier's Space one of the founders of the
museum. Visitors can test their flight abilities on a nearby flight
simulator.
From the museum's terrace
located in the near the runway at the front of the museum, visitors can keep up the handlings of the
F/A-18 Hornet and the F-5 Tiger from the Swiss Air Force and take pictures. |
